Eminent scholar from Scotland visits AIOU

Islamabad—An eminent academician and scholar Prof. Norman Reid Emeritus from Scotland visited the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) under the academic exchange program. He met with the university’s faculty members to share with them his vision and academic input about the new emerging learning methodologies, said a press release issued here.
He was also a key-note speaker at a seminar held at the university on the topic of ‘Goals, working memory and mystery of learning’. He appreciated the AOIU for its efforts in developing collaborative partnership with foreign universities.
The seminar was part of the series recently undertaken by the university to provide opportunities to local academicians and scholars taking benefit of the foreign experts in educational pursuits.
The speakers included Dr. Samina Awan, Dr. Iqbal Shah, Dr. Hasan Raza and Dr. Majid Balgrami. They said the AIOU was laying special focus on research work that benefits the society, as per the directives of the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui. Norman Reid, professor of science education from University of Glasgow presented an information process model. He was of the view that each individual possessed learning ability and its enrichment needed proper environment and support from the society.—APP
