Eight killed in road mishaps in Punjab, Sindh

Multan/Muzaffargarh/Thatta—At least eight persons were killed and around two dozens injured in traffic accidents in Punjab and Sindh on Sunday.
According to reports, two people died and two others injured in a road accident here on Sunday.
Rescue sources said that due to reckless driving and over speeding a trailer and mini truck collided with each other at Old Shujaabad Road in Multan. Two people died on the spot in the accident while same number others sustained wounds who were shifted to hospital.
In Arifwala, two persons including mother and son died while four others were injured in collision between two motorcycles here on Sunday.
Rescue sources said that two over speeding motorcycles collided while trying to overtake each other at Burewala Road in Arifwala. Two including mother and son died on the spot in the accident while four others were critically injured.
A minor among two died while six others were injured in collision between an oil tanker and a pickup van here on Sunday.
Police said that an over speeding oil tanker collided with a pickup van near Head Panjnad in tehsil Alipur of Muzaffargarh.
The oil tanker driver and a six-month old kid died in the accident while six others were wounded. The bodies injured were shifted to Tehsil Hospital Alipur for medico-legal formalities. Both vehicles caught fire after the collision which was later extinguished by the fire tenders. In Thatta city of Sindh, at least two persons died and eight others injured in a road accident here on Sunday morning.
Police said that a Badin bound passenger bus coming from Karachi got out of control of the driver due to over speeding and hit a closed barrier near main bridge in Thatta.
Two passengers died on the spot in the accident while eight others were injured who were shifted to hospital where condition of some wounded people was stated to be serious.—INP/SABAH
