Eid celebrated with religious zeal, fervour

Islamabad—Eidul Fitr was celebrated throughout the country with great religious zeal and fervour on Wednesday.
It was after many years that the Eid was celebrated simultaneously across the country like the month of fasting that began the same day. Eid was also celebrated in Saudi Arabia and other Muslim countries on the same day.
Huge Eid congregations were held at open places‚ mosques and Eidgahs in all major cities, towns and villages of the country.
In their sermons, Ulema and religious scholars highlighted the significance and philosophy of Eidul Fitr and the need to share its joys with the have-nots.
In Islamabad, the main eid congregation was held at Faisal Mosque where President Mamnoon Hussain offered eid prayers.
Envoys of Islamic countries, parliamentarians and people belonging to different walks of life also offered eid prayers at the Faisal mosque. Later, the President mixed up with the people and exchanged eid greetings.
Later people belonging to different walks of life including politicians, notables and envoys of different countries called aon President Mamnoon Hussain in Islamabad and exchanged eid greetings.
The three services chiefs also called on the President and exchanged eid greetings.
On the occasion, the President also wished happy eid to the soldiers and officers on the frontlines.
He said the entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with their troops for the defence of the country.
In Lahore, the main Eid congregation was held at historical Badshahi Mosque.—INP
