Efforts underway to end Polio by 2016

Rawalpindi—Speakers at a workshop here Friday said that efforts were underway to eradicate Polio by 2016 and the campaign is being carried out at Union council level to vaccinate children under five years age.
The workshop held in collaboration with UNICEF and Public Relations department was held to create awareness about Polio among the media to highlight the issue in society.
They said that media can play a vital role to end the crippling disease and with the cooperation of media misconceptions about its vaccination could be addressed.
Speaking on the occasion, Communication officer Mrs Ban khalid informed that 40,000 polio teams are operating in  Punjab while 127 polio workers are performing their duties with dedication in Rawalpindi District to  eradicate the disease.
