Effective steps should be taken to eradicate fake medicines: Dr AQ Khan

A Two day International Conference on “Recent Innovation in Pharmaceutical Sciences” organized by Riphah International University began in Islamabad Wednesday.
This is the 2nd International Conference on the subject. Inaugurating the conference, renowned Pakistani nuclear physicist, Dr. Abdul Qadeer Khan emphasized on taking effective steps to eradicate the menace of fake medicines being supplied in the market.
He particularly called upon the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) to enforce effective measures to control the fake medicines. Dr. AQ Khan threw light on the achievements made in the field of nuclear technology by him and his colleagues for a safer and peaceful country. He advised the educated youth that now it is your responsibility to take Pakistan forward in every field.
Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman, Higher Education Commission (HEC) highlighted the importance of Pharmaceutical research in the modern era and the role of HEC in providing research facilities and scholarships for students and faculty over the last 15 years.
He said that universities should not only focus on basic research but more on applied research so that our research projects can create positive impact in the society.
