Abbottabad—Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday stated that only depoliticised institutions enable the country to move forward and in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa all the institutions have been depoliticised. Talking to reporters after inaugurating the up-graded schools in Abbottabad, Imran Khan said that real change could be brought through eliminating political interference at all levels in the educational sector.
He said the Prime Minister had announced to release four billion for reconstruction of quake-hit schools but failed to fulfil his promise. He said the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa finally took responsibility of reconstructing these schools and it is investing Rs8 billion on the project. Salient features of project to reconstruct 760 quakehit schools
Criticising the PML-N govt’s Orange Line train project in Lahore, Khan asked; “How do we justify Rs200 billion on one train when 8 billion can build 760 schools?” He said 50% of our population is under 30 and the main premise of progress needs to be education, not trains.
Imran Khan further asserted that 2500 schools destroyed in the province and the provincial authorities are working on 760 but this was federal government’s responsibility. He claimed that 25,000 teachers were recruited through NTS. There is no Nepotism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Replying a question, Imran Khan said that our sit in at Islamabad was for a cause and not a single flower was smashed while it is the responsibility of the federal and government of Punjab to deal the issue according to laws and rules and to provide safety and security to the citizens for which he added that till time, both the governments fails to sort out the issue.
He added that it shows complete failure on the part of Punjab police which is a ‘political’ one and is used just to pressurise the political rivals. Regarding the local bodies system in KP, Imran Khan said that for the first time they had shifted the powers to the village councils as PTI wants to pass on the power o its real owners, the public and the main stake holders, the community whoa re fully empowered to decide their own fate for which they will be given more powers and will be strengthen with the passage of time and this is the main beauty of the local bodies system which does not exist anywhere in Pakistan.
