Lahore—Rana Mashood Ahmad Khan, Education Minister of Punjab, presided over the opening of an important gathering of international scholars to discuss contemporary challenges in religious education at the university level.
In his opening address, the Minister expressed the need for a working committee to be established in order to make recommendations to the government on these crucial issues. Representatives from leading faculties of Islamic Studies were in attendance to discuss aspects of this vital topic.
In his opening address the Minister noted that education is an essential means to bring about growth, good citizenship, and the changes needed for peace and development in the world today.
He also recognized that religious extremism is a significant challenge, but one that we must address with all of our might. The Minister also said that 37% of the ADP is being spent on education in Punjab.
The Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif, is tirelessly working for the promotion of education in Punjab.
