Karachi—Governor Sindh Dr.Ishrat ul Ebad Khan has highlighted the importance of photo-journalism. He said that without photographers, the profession of journalism ‘remains incomplete’.
Ebad was speaking at the oath-taking ceremony of the Pakistan Association of Press Photographers (PAPP). He said that a single photo is a complete news item carrying the impact of hundreds of written words.
The Governor said that in discharge of professional duties, the photographers sometime put their lives at risk and their main goal is to convey the visuals to the readers.
He assured that in case of need, the photo-journalists would be provided medical assistance at the Dow Medical University’s Ojha Campus and their family members would also be provided medical facility at this centre.
Ebad also promised to provide financial assistance to the PAPP and asked the Sindh Finance Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, to look into matter. He further said that assistance would also be provided for the photographers’ housing scheme.
On the occasion, he administered the oath to the office bearers of the PAPP. The office bearers include Syed Majid Hussain (President), Syed Abbas Medhi (General Secretary), Saeed Iqbal (Vice-President), Saqib Siddiqui (Treasurer), Muhammad Nasir (Joint Secretary) besides the members of the Governing Body.
