Karachi—Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan Tuesday called for seeking the cooperation of Ulema and making foolproof security measures for the maintenance of peace and law and order during the month of Muharram.
This he stated during a meeting with Adviser to the Sindh Chief Minister on Religious Affairs Dr. Abdul Qayyum Soomro, Special Assistant Ghulam Shah Gilani, Deputy Mayor of Karachi Arshad Vohra, Additional IG Mushtaq Mahar and a representative of the Director General of Pakistan Rangers Sindh at the Governor House here.
During the meeting, the Governor was briefed regarding the arrangements made for security during the holy month.
The Governor called for undertaking effective measures in this regard and seeking the cooperation of the Ulema.
He directed that peace committees be also constituted at divisional and district levels with the cooperation of the Ulema.
Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad stressed that foolproof security steps be ensured and special arrangements be also made for cleanliness and provision of drinking water for the mourning processions and Majalis etc.
