‘Early Childhood Education Programme’ starts in Punjab

School Education Department (SED) with the collaboration of, UNICEF, Plan International and Directorate of Staff Development, has started “Early Childhood Education Programme” in Punjab. During this programme, 2800 Schools have been converted into Child Friendly Schools through PC-I Phase-I and 2200 more schools will also be converted into Child Friendly Schools till March, 2017. In Phase-II in addition 5000 more schools will be converted into Child Friendly Schools till 2018 having ECE room and other facilities.
This was stated by Minister Education Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan during the closing ceremony of Two weeks training of 72 ECE Master Trainers at Directorate of Staff Development. Programme Director DSD Saeed Ramzan, Chairman of Punjab Education Foundation Engineer Qamar-ul-Islam, Education Specialist UNICEF Punjab Rubina Nadeem were also present in the ceremony.
While addressing the ceremony Rana Mashhood Ahmad said that world has admitted the importance and need of Early Childhood Education.
He further said that the atmosphere of these ECE schools changed into Child Friendly Schools. During the ceremony, well trained 144 ECE teachers presented their training reports. After completion of this training, these MTs will train the 5000 ECE teachers, 5000 ECE head teachers, 5000 Caregivers and 15000 School Council Members till March 2017.
Jawad Amir Malik, Head of ECE Implementation Unit, DSD also explained briefly about the performance of School Education Department regarding Early Childhood Education in Punjab.
Later, Minister Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan distributed certificates among successful participants of Early Childhood Education Programme the trained ECE teachers thanked the Minister Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, School Education Department, UNICEF, Plan International and Directorate of Staff Development and assured that they will perform well in field.
