DSJ stresses juvenile laws implementation

attock—Sohail Nasir District and Sessions Judge Attock arranged a symposium on ‘juveniles laws and concept of community services under probation laws in collaboration with Sanjog, an NGO here. All stakeholders including district judiciary, police, district administration, superintendent jail, district probation officer and bar associations’ attended the symposium.
Sohail Nasir District and Sessions Judge, presided over function while DCO Rana Akbar Hayat, DPO Zahid Khan Marwat, Syed Azmat Ali Bukhari member Punjab Bar Council and Mazhar Masood Khan president District Association, addressed the symposium. While, Raja Jahanzaib Akhtar, Senior Civil Judge, performed the functions of the stage secretary.
Sohail Nasir District and Sessions Judge, expressing his views maintained that juveniles should be made useful citizens by implementing juvenile laws, which enable offenders to give their anti-law tendencies. He expressed that society should not treat juveniles as criminals and must contribute their rehabilitation by counseling them. He emphasized that all he stake- holders of judicial sector must be sensitized regarding rights of juveniles.
It was furthers maintained that in one case charges against juveniles and adults should be heard separately and guardian must be informed immediately after their arrest by police.
