Drive against tax defaulter vehicles from Oct 22

The Sindh Excise and Taxation Department will conduct a province-wise road checking campaign from October 22 to November 1 against tax defaulter and unregistered, open-letter vehicles.
Sindh Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Mukesh Kumar Chawla, chairing a meeting regarding the road checking drive on Thursday, asked officials to ensure wearing of uniforms during road checking and do not misbehave with citizens.
He directed that roads should not be blocked during the checking and impounded vehicles be only released after the clearance of outstanding dues with penalty.
The minister was informed that 11 teams were formed for checking at 38 specified places in Karachi while regional directors have also formed teams for the purpose.
The meeting also decided to take action against Qingqi rickshaws, auto rickshaws, vehicles plying without number plates, suspicious number plates, expired or temporarily registered or old registered numbers, fancy number plates or plying with personalised number plate.
Mukesh Chawla asked the officers to check maximum number of vehicles and to make the campaign a success.
Secretary Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Aijaz Ahmed Mahessar, Director Generals Shabbir Ahmed Shaikh, Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui Director Admin Syed Sibten and other officers also attended the meeting.—APP
