Dr Sagheer parts ways with MQM, joins Kamal

Karachi—Muttahida Qaumi Movement leader Dr Sagheer Ahmed Ansari, an MPA in Sindh, has parted ways with Altaf Hussain and joined the fold of Mustafa Kamal.
Dr Sagheer, who had been provincial minister thrice and MPA for as many times alleged his former leader Altaf Hussain ‘an agent of RAW’ and accused him of using MQM workers as ‘tissue paper’.
In the press conference, Kamal and another rebel of the MQM Anis Qaimkhani had flanked Dr Sagheer.
Earlier in the day it was being speculated that either Hammad Siddiqui or someone else would make his appearance but it wasn’t so.
The print and electronic media were also ignorant of the departure of Kamal and Qaimkhani from Dubai and their arrival in Karachi. Invitation for a press briefing was faxed to them.
Kamal and Qaimkhani were present all the time in their new bungalow in Khayaban-e-Sahar in DHA before Dr Sagheer’s arrival.
Unlike Kamal, Dr Sagheer avoided using the name of his former Quaid Altaf Hussain in his entire hour-long remarks but repeated all Kamal’s allegations.
Dr Sagheer claimed he wants to play a role in the development of Pakistan saying that prosperous Karachi means a prosperous Sindh and a prosperous Pakistan.
He also claimed that there are many from the MQM, who are on their way to this new bungalow for joining Kamal and Qaimkhani saying he has taken the lead and others would follow.
He said that he would serve his community (Muhajirs) by joining Kamal and Qaimkhani which was not possible remaining in the MQM. The MQM did good politics from 2005 to 2008. Later, the MQM and its politics were dedicated to serving just one individual and that is Altaf Hussain.
Giving a reference of genocide of Mohajirs in Lyari, he said it used to happen that Mohajir youth were picked from passenger couches and after ascertaining their identity as Mohajir were brutally murdered and videos were shared international.
He said he has decided to join Kamal and Qaimkhani whom he declared people of upright character and men of conscious. He also announced to quit MQM and his seat in the Sindh Assembly.
However, it is not known when he is going to meet the Sindh Assembly Speaker for tendering his resignation, which he should have done earlier.
He said the unnamed party of Kamal he has joined does not plan to occupy offices of MQM as was done in 1992 when Afaq Ahmed had invaded the MQM as Haqiqi.
While lambasting his former leader Altaf Hussain he said whatever wrong he did in the morning he begged pardon in the evening and the entire MQM was set to give explanations to media.
