The president of PPP’s Karachi division Dr. Asim Hussain was released and shifted from the Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Complex to the Ziauddin Hospital on Friday.
The Sindh High Court on Friday issued orders to release Dr. Asim Hussain on bail after the accused furnished his passports that were being held by the Anti-Terrorism Court in connection with another case.
Earlier, Dr. Asim Hussain’s legal team had moved the high court to amend the requirements for furnishing bail, however on Thursday the court had rejected the application; when the ATC returned the passports being held in a case regarding aiding treatment for criminals, the accused was able to furnish them before the high court and secure bail.
Along with his passports, Dr. Asim has secured bail after submitting surety bonds to the value of Rs 50,00,000.
Armoured vehicles transported Dr Asim from Jinnah Hospital to Ziauddin Hospital where he is the deputy managing director. The former minister has been undergoing treatment for cardiovascular ailment.
Dr Asim was booked on the complaint of Rangers for allegedly treating and harbouring suspected terrorists, militants and gangsters at the North Nazimabad and Clifton branches of his hospital at the behest of some MQM and PPP leaders.
