Diwali celebrations continue in city on second day

The second day of Diwali festival celebrated with religious fervour, traditional zeal and enthusiasm on Thursday.
Special ceremonies were held by local Hindu community in connection with the festival. The local Hindu leaders cut the Diwali cake and distributed gifts and sweets among people.
Meanwhile, the district administration has made tight security arrangements in and around the Hindu temples to avert any untoward situation. Diwali is the biggest festival of Hindu community, often referred as the “Festival of Lights”. The festival, is being marked ahead of the New Year in their religion.
The three day-long celebrations are being preceded by poojas inside homes, known as Dhanteras. Homes are lit up with earthen lamps while rangoli is used to craft patterns on the floor.—APP
