Departments to keep close liaison to counter dengue, congo: Sarwar

Rawalpindi—Punjab Minister for Labour and Manpower Raja Ishfaq Sarwar on Monday reviewed arrangements made to prevent dengue larva breeding and spread of Congo virus in the district.
Presiding over a meeting here, he directed the concerned departments to keep a close liaison with each other and public representatives to completely wipe out the outbreak threat of dengue.
He said people’s representatives, NGOs, private hospitals and district government teams should play an effective role in dengue eradication campaign.
He stressed upon the need to initiate awareness programmes among the masses for adopting precautionary measures to protect themselves from the lethal mosquito.
He directed officials to ensure immediate fumigation and spray of Cattle at the entry and exit points of the city, at sale points and at cattle markets for prevention of Congo virus ahead of Eid Ul Azha. He directed officials to carry out spray of animals besides taking steps for treatment of animals suffering from any sort of disease including congo virus to prevent the spread of Congo virus among the people.
DCO Talat Gondal briefed the meeting that people coming from AJK,Haripur,Kotli and Federal Capital are increasing the number of dengu patients in the district,adding that only 25 patients were admitted from Rawalpindi in the allied hospital while a number of them have been discharged.
The meeting was also attended by parliamentary Secretary Raja Javaid Ikhlas, ,Executive District Officer Health (EDO) Dr Arshad Ali Sabir,Dr Jamal Nasir and other officials.
