Dengue situation in Rawalpindi under control: Ashfaq

Rawalpindi—Minister for Labour and Manpower Raja Ashfaq Sarwar has said that Dengue situation in Rawalpindi is under control at the moment, however, presence of larva in overhead, underground water tanks, Junkyards, graveyards, under construction buildings and open plots is a matter for concern and all concerned departments and organizations should discharge their responsibilities to tackle the situation efficiently.
He issued these directives while presiding fortnightly meeting of Dengue preventive and control held in the committee room of Commissioner office, Rawalpindi. DCO Rawalpindi Talat Mehmood Gondal, Assistant Commissioners, Isphanyar Bhandara MNA , Raja Muhammad Hanif, Zaib un NIsa Awan, Sobia Satti, MPAs, Sardar mumtaz Khan, Malik Shakeel Awan, Haji Pervez Khan, Mirza Mansoor Baig, Raja Atiq Sarwar, Shoukat Janjua, Hafiz Usman, Rahat Masood Qudoosi, Directeor Local Government and Rural Development Mian Najeeb Aslam and representatives of other departments attended the meeting.
Raja Ashfaq Sarwar asked to ensure de-silting of all nullas, elimination of wild growth and lifting of garbage from open plots before moon soon season set in. He also directed to include dengue larva data of Gujar Khan, Wah Cantt, Taxila and other joining areas in the report. He also directed for up loading correct data of dengue larva presence on dashboard so that proper remedial measures be adopted.
DCO, Rawalpindi said that government departments having poor performance of dengue larva detection had been warned to improve their performance in according to the tasks indicated in the SOP. Director Local Government Mian Najeeb Aslam informed in the meeting that additional teams for surveillance had been deputed in Rawalpindi. EDO Health Dr. Arshad Sabir briefed about the performance of govt. department about dengue control.
