Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has said that democracy is an international system comprising of independence of opinion for evaluating socio-political, economical and cultural systems of the people.
He said that democracy strengthens the state institutions for providing best services to the people in an organized manner.
He said that democracy is a system of public-interest where decisions are not made on roads, but in the parliament, and, democracy is not limited to holding elections but a best system to solve people’s problems. In his message on the eve of International Day of Democracy, the Chief Minister said the purpose to celebrate this day is to promote democratic values and norms on permanent basis.
The main objective of this day is to create public awareness and make the democratic norms more strengthened, he added.
He said that democracy is the name of supremacy of the constitution, rule of law and independence of judiciary and the media.
Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistani people fully believe in the democracy and are unanimous about the continuity of democratic system in the country.
He said that attitudes based on personal interest, anarchy, accusations as well as the politics of deceit are undemocratic behaviors.
He said that Pakistan Muslim League-N believes in the democracy and has always strived hard for its stability, adding the PML-N has always played its effective role for the strengthening of political institutions.
It is the message of International Day of Democracy that such democracy should be promoted which could guarantee progress of the people as well as development of the country, he added.
The Chief Minister further said, “We should reiterate to proactively exhibit our roles for strengthening democratic traditions on this International Day of Democracy.”
