“Saudi Arabia considers Daesh as a major security threat to its country and world peace”. This apprehension was made by The Secretary General [SG] of the Muslim World League [MWL] Dr. Mohammed bin Abdul Karim Al-Issa here at international Press Club here.
Dr Mohammad was addressing the well-attended media seminar on “Islam and European Values: “A New Vision for a Common Dialogue”.
He says Saudi Arabia believes ideological misinterpretation is the main cause behind fast spreading extremism and terrorism at all levels – regional and global. At the same time he suggested that the use of military to uproot terror is not the expedient solution to the malaise. “We have to dismantle the facade of extremism and shall have to build humane international society to cope with all dangers on earth”.
Recalling the contribution of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia towards eradication of global terror Dr Mohammad told the audience that the Saudi Government has already established a Counter Terrorism Centre. The Centre will make use of the social media and counter the extremism, the source of terrorism. “ We shall defeat the extremists by counter measure and reformative steps. We have had the will to do so”.
It was his opinion that the number of extremist elements is very low approximately 1% against 200, 000. But we have had to deaden even this small number at all costs and shall have to save humanity from falling into negative hands.
Dr Mohammad reiterated that negativism does not represent Islam or culture of Islam. Islam means peace for all. It is not selective in human treatment. It is comprehensive in moral and morality everywhere. He appealed to the intelligentsia to understand fully all dimensions of Islamic civilization. It is cooperative.
Responding a question on Yemen conflict the Secretary General MWL said that Saudi Arabia wanted peaceful relations with all countries including its neighbours.
Referring to the growing issue of migrations from Iraq, Syria and other nations he urged humanitarian entities to extend help to tackle this crisis.
