CTP to take strict action against overcharging

Rawalpindi—City Traffic Police (CTP), under a special campaign, will take strict action against transporters overcharging commuters and not completing their designated routes.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi Shoaib Khurram Janbaz has directed Traffic police officers and Wardens of Rawalpindi city and all tehsils of the district to take action in accordance with the law against the public service vehicles for overcharging, overloading and non-completion of the designated routes.
He said, there were several complaints of non-completion of the routes of public service vehicles and charge of high fares. A special squad has been formed in this regard, he added.
The CTO said that the squad has been directed to conduct raids and no relaxation should be given to anyone.
He further said that special directives have also been issued to take stern action against the transporters who misbehave with the passengers. He said the squad would conduct special checking of public service vehicles and those violating the rules would be fined. Misbehaving with passengers would not be tolerated, he added.
He said the public complaints regarding non-completion of routes would be redressed on the spot, adding the traffic checking drive would continue to ensure implementation of the traffic rules.—APP
