Rawalpindi City Traffic Police (CTP) have chalked out a comprehensive plan for 71th Independence Day to be celebrated on Tuesday while FIRs will also be registered against one-wheelers and car-drifters.
Under the traffic plan, enhanced number of traffic wardens under the supervision of Inspectors and DSPs will be deployed in double shifts in Rawalpindi city and tehsils of the district aimed at avoiding traffic mess on the Independence Day.
A control room has been set up at Traffic Police Headquarters to monitor the situation with helpline number 051-9272839.
According to Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Muhammad Bin Ashraf, all out efforts would be made to control traffic on Rawalpindi city roads and in Murree especially on Aug 14.
He said that strict action would be taken against one-wheelers, rash and negligent driving. Traffic wardens have been directed to impound motorcycles of one-wheelers in respective police stations.
He urged the citizens particularly parents to play role to curb the activity as one wheeling, rash and negligent driving are the main causes for fatal accidents.
All the traffic officers and wardens have also been directed to remain present at their duty points so that no traffic jam could be witnessed, he added.
The CTO told that all out efforts are being made by Traffic Police to facilitate the road users so that they could get uninterrupted traffic flow and reach at their destination within shortest possible time. He said in view of the security of the citizens, special traffic arrangements have been made. Under the plan, traffic police officers have been directed to keep a vigilant eye on suspicious vehicles. Strict action in accordance with the law has also been ordered against vehicles having tinted glass or moving in the city without number plates, he added.—APP
