Crime Scene Training Facility inaugurated at Police College Sihala

Rawalpindi—The Mock Crime Scene Training Facility set up with the collaboration of Germany was inaugurated in the Police College, Sihala. Additional Inspector General Police (Training) Muhammad Usman Khattak inaugurated the facility. Commandant Police College, Sihala, Sohail Habib Tajik, Representative of German Embassy and in-charge of GIZ-Crime Investigation Services Katrin Ladwing, former IG, Dr. Shoaib Saddul were also present on the occasion.
The Crime Scene Facility features model of murder, bank robbery, suicide and other heinous crime through which under training police officers will be imparted training about the collection and preservation of evidence, analyzing them and presenting them before the court.
Addressing the ceremony, Additional Inspector General (Training) Muhammad Usman Khattak said Germany is providing remarkable support to the Punjab Police to improve their investigation capacity. He said the Punjab Police have focused on the latest techniques of investigation and utilization of modern technology that has improved the performance of the Punjab Police to combat terrorism and reduce street crime.
Former IG Dr Shoaib Suddle said that the thana culture can only be changed through training of the police and training is also the only solution to combat terrorism and fight street crime in an effective manner. He said without protecting evidence and presenting them before the courts, criminals cannot be convicted and the establishment of the rule of law cannot be ensured.
Representative of German Embassy and in-charge of GIZ-Crime Investigation Services Katrin Ladwing said Germany is providing support to the Punjab Police to enhance their investigation capacity to help maintain the rue of the law. She said crime rate cannot be controlled effectively without providing modern training and tools to the police.
Commandant Sihala Police College Sohail Habib Tajik said the Crime Scene Training Facility is a valuable addition to the training facilities in the Sihala Police College. He said the college has become a degree awarding institution in the criminology and equal focus in paid on physical training and mental capacity of the police officer.
