Islamabad—Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Sun Weidong has said the completion of China Pakistan Economic Corridor project will open more opportunities for Pakistani agriculture products to be exported to China.
Talking to this correspondent the other day, the ambassador added that his country imported quite a lot of agriculture products last year but the completion of China Pakistan Economic Corridor project will open new vistas for Pakistani products in the big Chinese market.
He pointed out that China is a huge market in the world and expressed confidence that the Pakistani products will be very popular in the Chinese markets.
The ambassador said Pakistani mangoes are the best in the world. “I had a chance to taste different varieties of mangoes in Pakistan and all of them are very delicious, juicy and of high quality.” When asked as to which variety he liked the most, he said, “I love all of them but I think the most famous is the Chaunsa type.”
He said China is importing a large quantity of mangoes from Pakistan and expressed the confidence that this will promote more trade and cooperation between the two countries.
Pakistan is one of the top-ranking mango producing and exporting countries. Because of the aroma, fragrance and taste, the country’s mangoes are considered the best in the whole world. This is the reason that the country is exporting mangoes to about 50 countries including European and Middle Eastern countries.
During the current year the target of exporting 100,000 tones of mangoes was set, of which 75 per cent has been achieved. Apart from mangoes, the country’s textile and cotton related products are also very popular the world over.
