Islamabad—A division bench of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday issued a stay order against dissolution of Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) committees enabling Hamid Khan group to run the affairs of lawyers’ apex body.
The division bench comprising Justice Noorul Haq N Qureshi and Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui issued the order that “Notice for a week commencing from September 19, 2016. Till then any action initiated shall remain suspended. The petitioners and all other elected committees are allowed to perform their functions”,
The petitioners Muhammad Shoaib Shaheen, Chairman Legal Education Committee PBC, Ch Ishtiaq Ahmed Chairman Law Reforms Committee and Tahir Nasrullah Warriach Chairman Appeal Committee had challenged before the IHC dissolution of the committees in PBC’s September 3 meeting.
PBC a 23-member body where one member was been added last year after formation of Islamabad bar council.
