Court directs action against CDA official

Construction of 7th floor shopping mall

Islamabad—The Islamabad High Court on Monday directed the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to initiate departmental action against an official of the Authority for allowing a private shopping mall (Safa Gold) to construct 7th floor without the approval of the CDA Board, which is a clear violation of rules.
Justice Amer Farooq has directed that action against the said official should be completed before October 10. The court is hearing a petition by the shopping mall against its sealing by the CDA. The court also directed the CDA to resolve the matter with regard to construction of a cinema house on 8th floor of the shopping mall. Earlier, the court was told that no action was taken against the official responsible for giving the Mall clean chit regarding construction of the 7th floor. Upon this the court took exception to CDA’s disregard to court’s orders and directed first the inquiry should be completed and then the court would conduct further hearing into the matter.
