Consultation on child rights

Islamabad—SACH – Struggle for Change, a non-government organization, would hold a consultation on child rights on April 7 (Thursday) at a local hotel at 10.30 a.m.
The moot has been organized in connection with its project initiated for progress on child protection with reference to International Child Abduction under The Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction (October 25, 1980) with the collaboration of British High Commission Islamabad.
“By initiating a debate on the above-mentioned convention, we seek to combat parental child abduction by providing a system of co-operation between relevant countries and a rapid procedure for the return of the child to the country of the child’s habitual residence to secure the “best interestof the child”, an official of SACH told APP.
It is an endeavor to elevate consciousness about child rights in Pakistan, on The Hague Convention with the stakeholders, he added.
Jon Ryan, Head of Consular Section British High Commission, Islamabad would be chief guest on the occasion while Majid Bashir, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of Pakistan would spoke on ‘Enforcement and Challenges of UK Pakistan Protocol’ and Albert David, British High Commission, Islamabad would shed light on ‘Contribution of British High Commission in UK Pakistan Protocol and Hague Convention’ in the moot.—APP
