Construction of road from lslamabad to Taxila delayed

Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) has completely failed to construct the road between Islamabad-Taxila via Khanpur to facilitate the tourists across the country.
The project had been in doldrums as the two provincial governments Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab could not developed consensus so far on the projects.
“The road was to be constructed in collaboration with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and PTDC at a cost of Rs1.75 billion,” an official in the PTDC told APP.
He said the road has become a bone of contention between Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments for various technical differences of land disputes. “The matter is now also under discussion in the Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet and hopefully it will be decided shortly,” he said.—APP
