Compensation funds for Waziristan affected families soon: Baloch

Islamabad—Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) Lt. Gen. (R) Abdul Qadir Baloch has said that compensation funds would be released very soon to the affected families of Waziristan Operation.
Talking to APP here Saturday, he said that the compensation funds in the form of Citizen Losses Compensation Programme (CLCP) for FATA was approved by the Prime Minister on February 16, 2016. He said that Finance Division had already released Rs. 5 billion to FATA Secretariat for Citizen Losses Compensation Programme (CLCP).
FATA Secretariat has transferred Rs. 1935.440 million for 5576 houses as per request received from Political Agent, South Waziristan Agency.
Similarly on the request of Political Agent North Waziristan Agency, Rs.43.680 Million for 210 houses have also been released to Political Agent by Finance Department, FATA Secretariat.
Meanwhile, it was reported earlier that the Fata Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) has sought 25,000 tents from the federal government for the returning internally displaced vulnerable families of Fata, who require immediate shelter at their native areas. Officials told that vulnerable families included those, whose houses had been fully damaged and who lacked resources to rebuild their abodes. They said the vulnerable families after homecoming would confront severe cold weather and they would need immediate shelters to protect them from harsh weather. The officials said the FDMA required 11,000 tents immediately and that tents provided to IDPs can’t resist harsh wind and snowfall. An official said the FDMA recently placed the demand to the Ministry of State and Frontier Regions (Safron) for the release of funds to purchase 25,000 tents. The demand was placed after United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) expressed its inability to provide tents to the returning IDPs.—APP
