Peshawar—The Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervez Khattak has ordered constitution of high-level committee for searching out workable solution to the issue of the ownership of forests in Malakand division within a period of one month.
He issued these directives while talking to representative Jirga of Malakand division at CM Secretariat Peshawar on Thursday. Senior Minister for Local government Inayatullah Khan, Special Assistant for Environment Ishtiaq Urmar, Special Assistant for Information Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, MPAs Dr. Haider Ali, Mohammad Ali, Mian Jaffar Shah, notable of the area and provincial secretaries for environment, law and high ranking officers were present on the occasion.
The Senior Minister InayatUllah while high-lighting the grievances of the people of the forests growing areas of the division demanded end to the apprehensions of the people of the area about ownerships of forests surfaced after promulgation of forest oridnance 2002. He also demanded uniformity in the ratio of forest royalty in the province.
The Chief Minister assured that government would considered recommendations to be put forth by the committee properly. He also assured that necessary legislation and other steps would also be ensured if needed in this regard to solve the issue in a satisfactory manner.
