Islamabad—Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CAAD), Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry on Tuesday constituted a committee to control and eradicate dengue from the twin cities.
The committee members included officials from the district governments of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD). This was decided in a meeting held here for taking effective dengue control measures, which was attended by the Mayor of Islamabad, Sheikh Ansar, district administration of Islamabad and Rawalpindi and representatives of CDA. The committee will coordinate with all the relevant wings and departments to ensure measures to control the outbreak of dengue and effective eradication of the dengue larvae.
The committee will also take necessary steps to efficiently manage the waste disposal in the city and urban areas which are the breeding ground for dengue larvae. The minister praised the effective dengue control system followed by the Punjab government which yielded positive results in the severely infected areas. He said that the same model is being implemented in Islamabad which is proving successful as no loss of life has been reported in the city this year. The dengue patients who are brought to hospitals in Islamabad are mostly from the suburban areas and adjoining districts of Islamabad, he added.
