Committee constituted to consider impediments to NAP implementation

Islamabad—A sub-committee was constituted on Saturday to ‘thoroughly consider the impediments in implementation and execution’ of various points of National Action Plan. The sub-committee would ‘suggest viable proposals for presentation before the Implementation Committee for removing the bottlenecks,’ said a press release issued here.
The committee would thoroughly consider the impediments in implementation and execution of the following points: NAP-1 (Execution of Convicted Terrorists), NAP-2 (Special Trial Courts) and NAP-20 (Revamping of Criminal Justice System). The sub-committee was constituted in pursuance of decision in the preliminary meeting of Implementation Committee for National Action Plan held on August 22, 2016 by the National Security Adviser/Convener of the Committee.
Attorney General for Pakistan would be the Convener/Chairman, while Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Secretary Law & Justice, all Home, Law, Prosecutors General of the Provinces and Secretary Attorney General’s Office would be members of the committee. The Committee may co-opt any other relevant person/authority as part of the Committee and its proceedings. The Committee would submit its report within 60 days.
Menwhile, a meeting of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (kp) Apex Committee chaired by Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra at Governor House here Saturday reviewed the overall law and order situation and discussed measures to materialize National Action Plan (NAP) in its true perspective.
The meeting among others was attended by Chief Minister KP, Pervez Khattak, Commander 11 Corps Lieutenant General, Hidayat-ur- Rahman, Inspector General Police, Nasir Khan Durrani and Commandant F.C, Liaqat Ali Khan.
Situation emerged in wake of Mardan and Warsak terrorism incidents came under discussion and it was observed that security measures haD to be further streamlined. It was said that facilitators of heinous crime would also be brought to justice.
The security along China Pakistan Economic Corridor route also came under discussion and it was decided that Special Patrol Unit would be established on patron of Gilgit Baltistan Police. Earlier participants of the meeting offered fateha for the eternal peace of departed souls who embraced martyrdom in terrorist attack in District Courts Mardan.
The police during midnight operation against drug peddlers and gamblers arrested dozens of culprits and recovered large quantity of narcotics and gambling tools here. SSP Operations, Abbas Majid Marwat said the action was taken in City, Cantt and Rural areas during which dozens of drug peddlers and gamblers were arrested in raid and snap checking of roads.
He said 16kg hashish, 2kg opium, 500gm heroine, 19 bottles of liquor and gambling tools were recovered from the arrested persons cases against whom were registered at concerned police stations.—APP
