Commissioner reviews steps to prevent heat-stroke

Karachi—Commissioner Karachi, Syed Asif Haider Shah, chaired a meeting on Monday to review steps for prevention from any expected heatwave or cases of heat stroke in the metropolis.
The Deputy Commissioners informed that they have prepared prevention plans in their respective districts in this regard.
Health Secretary Saeed Ahmed, Administrator KMC, representative of Provincial Disaster Management Authority, Pakistan Rangers, Police and other organizations also attended the meeting.
The meeting was informed that the deputy commissioners would set up emergency relief centres in their respective areas. The sites for such centres have been identified. After finalization, a list would be presented to the Commissioner Karachi.
Fan, cold drinking water, juice, towels would be provided at relief centres to be set up at various places in the metropolis. For treatment of heat stroke cases, special units would be set up at health Department’s hospitals and dispensaries.
Commissioner Karachi Rescue Centre 1200 would serve as the control centre. K Electric representative assured that there would be less load- shedding in the area. The position of electricity supply is better this year as compared to the last year.
Steps are being taken for the improvement in supply of electricity. The meeting decided that a campaign would be initiated for fostering awareness for prevention from heat stroke.—APP
