Commissioner directs Child Protection Bureau to regularly monitor situation of beggary

Rawalpindi—Commissioner Rawalpindi Mr. Azmat Mehmood taking serious note of gathering of professional baggers including children at important crossings and roads of Rawalpindi had directed Officers of Child Protection Bureau, Social Welfare Departments and Special Brach to keep vigil eye on such elements who had been supervising this social evil and asked police authorities to put to the task to such culprits who had been spoiling the future of innocent children.
He issued these instructions while presiding a meeting in Rawalpindi on Thursday. The Additional Commissioner (Coordination) Mr.Tariq Mehmood, Officers of Child Protection Bureau, Social Welfare Department and Special Branch attended the meeting.
Commissioner Rawalpindi Division expressed annoyance over the situation with reference to beggary in Rawalpindi and directed that future of innocent children should be saved by giving them proper protection, guidance and support by the all concerned departments.
He directed Officers of Child Protection Bureau to regularly monitor the situation of beggary in Rawalpindi City areas and rescue all those kids who had been compelled to become bagger by some elements. He said data should be collected in this regard and according to the mandate of Child Protection Bureau such children should be given proper facilities to locate their near and dear ones and in case of delay they should be provided educational and health facilities.
Mr. Azmat Mehmood also issued instructions to involve Social Welfare Department and volunteers to address the humanitarian issue which is directly relate to the future generation of Pakistan.
He said the number of baggers including men, women and children were being increased rapidly which needs immediate attention and proper remedial measures. He also directed to submit a weekly progress report about the rehabilitate of bagger children and efforts for elimination of beggary.
