Commission in Karachi to investigate boat used

Mumbai attacks

Islamabad—A commission comprising Special Prosecutor Misbah-ul-Hasan Qazi and Defence Councel Raja Rizwan Abbasi arrived in Karachi on Thursday to examine a boat, Al-Fouz, believed to have been used in the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Saturday ordered the commission to travel to Karachi to investigate the boat and record the testimony of witnesses from the Federal Investigation Agency, who saw the boat being seized at the Karachi shipyard in 2009.
The order was given after agents from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) argued at the ATC that the boat was too large to be produced in court and that the examination of the witness cannot be completed separate from the production of the boat before the court, hence the commission needed to be permitted to travel to see the boat.
