Colourful Students’ Week at Landhi college

A colourful Students’ Week was celebrated at Govt Degree Commerce College, Landhi No 6 here the other day where students participated in a number of activities and exhibited their skills and talent in various categories.
The programme included Qirat, quiz, Naat Khwani, speech contests, musical chair, a cricket tournament, tug of war and other races and athletics activities in which the students participated.
On the occasion, a Mushaira was also held in which besides the students the teachers also participated. Prof Dr Mumtaz Umar, Prof Khatibullah Khan Mujahid, Prof Syed Adnan Ali, Prof Raees Babu Ali presented their verses at the Mushaira which mesmerized the participants.
Prominent poet Sakhawat Ali Johar presided over the Mushaira. Other poets included Osama Mir and Zahid Abbas.
Former Professor of the college Izhar Hussain was the chief guest on the occasion. The College Principal Prof Muhammad Ahmed Muddasar Khan lauded all the teachers and students for their successful contribution to the programme and congratulated them on such a grand display of talent.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that such programme help unearth hidden talent of the students and provide them opportunities to horn their skills and explore their talent.
Vice Principal Muhammad Ali Shaikh said that extracurricular activities should be held on regular basis so that students are provided ample opportunities to shine in various capacities along with academic skills.
On the occasion first year student Ahmed Raza was presented with appreciation shield for securing first position in inter-provincial weight-lifting championship.—INP
