Rawalpindi—Chief Secretary Punjab, Mr.Zahid Saeed, has called upon officers of all provincial government departments and representatives of concerned organizations to keep vigil eye on dengue larvae breeding spots and hideouts otherwise any sort of negligence can cause emergent situation in peak summer season due to ultimate increase of dengue mosquitoes.
He issued these directives while presiding a meeting in Rawalpindi on Thursday to review anti dengue activities. Commissioner Rawalpindi Azmat Mehmud, Secretary Local Government and Rural Development Dr. Saqib Aziz, ADC(G)s Arif Rahim, Imran Qureshi, ACs and officers of various government departments and organizations attended the meeting.
Reviewing the previous and current situation of dengue, Chief Secretary Punjab said that all relevant officers are well aware about their responsibilities to combat dengue and their performance remained outstanding in past to address the issue efficiently.
Zahid Saeed said there is time to make collaborated efforts to implement all strategies evolved to check larvae with the cooperation of community. He stressed on compiling dengue related data based on factual position and effective monitoring be ensured regarding indoor outdoor surveillance, case response of dengue patients in effected areas, conducting recommended fogging and spray and visits of hot spots. Chief Secretary also inquired about the availability of chemicals, medicines, treatment facilities and human resource.
He said dedicated efforts should be made to screen every nook and corner so that dengue could not become as an epidemic in hot summer season. Secretary Local Govt. and Rural Development Dr. Saqib Aziz informed four teams were being placed in Rawalpindi to monitor anti dengue activities.
Earlier Commissioner Rawalpindi Azmat Mehmood informed that presently the situation is under control with reference to dengue and progress of anti-dengue efforts was being reviewed regularly in TERK and SERK meetings. He said that all concerned departments and agencies are on board to tackle dengue and efforts were being made to improve the efficiency of related departments.
Prof. Muhamamd Umar, Principal, RMC spoke of dengue treatment facilities in teaching hospitals of Rawalpindi.EDO (Health) briefed about over all situation of dengue prevalence.
