Col Shuja Khanzada Shaheed Basketball Gold Cup inaugurated

Punjab Minister for Mines and Minerals Ch. Sher Ali Khan, Minister for Sports Jahangir Khanzada and Secretary Sports Punjab Muhammad Aamir Jan inaugurated Col (retd) Shuja Khanzada Shaheed Basketball Gold Cup at Sports Complex Gymnasium Hall on Wednesday. The tournament is being staged with the collaboration of Sports Board Punjab (SBP). Vice President PBF Lt-Col (Retd.) Naseem Butt, Director Sports Muhammad Anees Sheikh, Deputy Directors Tariq Wattoo, Hafeez Bhatti and a large number of basketball lovers also attended the opening ceremony.
The teams from all four provinces Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, Fata and Shuja Khanzada Club are participating in the 4-day tournament.
The players of all the participating teams were introduced with the guests of honours at the opening ceremony. Addressing the inaugural ceremony Punjab Minister for Sports Jahangir Khanzada said Punjab government is taking all possible measures for the promotion of sports in the province. “Basketball is one of the most popular games of modern era and we are also making hectic efforts for the growth of this game among the young generation,” he added. Punjab Minister for Sports Jahangir Khanzada further said the second edition of Col. (Retd.) Shuja Khanzada Shaheed Basketball Gold Cup will be a successful event.
“The teams from all parts of the country are featuring in the event and like first edition we are quite confident to make it thriving tournament,” he added. Secretary Sports Punjab Muhammad Aamir Jan, on this occasion, said Sports Board Punjab will continue to extend every kind of assistance for the holding of sports events across the province.
Vice President PBF Lt-Col (retd) Naseem Butt thanked Secretary Sports Punjab Muhammad Aamir Jan for extending vital support for the holding of Col (retd) Shuja Khanzada Shaheed Basketball Gold Cup. Result of Col (Retd.) Shuja Khanzada Shaheed Basketball Gold Cup match: Col Shuja Khanzada Club defeated Balochistan by 32-11. Sharjeel Ahmed and Suleman scored 8 points each for winning team.
