Lahore—After witnessing poor performance of bureaucracy and officers of School Education department, the Chief Minister, Punjab has desired to visits schools on a daily basis across Punjab to ascertain the performance of the department and the districts.
A well placed source in school education department told that a letter has been written to all the District Coordinator Officers (DCOs) in Punjab subjected ”Inspection visits of the Chief Minister Punjab in schools starting from 14th August, 2016”.
Letter stated that the schools are reopening on 15 August and it is imperative that the students are provided a befitting environment for quality education In the Last five years amongst many other quality initiatives the Government has invested heavily in the school infrastructure missing facilities dangerous building and has introduced Non Salary Budgets to the schools to meet their needs locally. Letters further stated that this year the Government has initiated massive investments in school human resource and infrastructure under a school improvement programme. The cost intensive programme requires provincial and district leadership to make it a success leading the campaign himself the Chief Minister has desired to visits schools on a daily basis across Punjab to ascertain the performance of the department and the districts. He has envisioned a leadership role for the DCOs in the cause and would personally talk to many of you on the subject
DCOs are requested to constitute the at District Committee under chairmanship of DCO concerned while EDO Education (Secretary) and district Mentoring Officer will also be member of committee.
Another Tehsil committee will be constituted under chair Assistant Commissioner and DDO (Male) Education as a Secretary of committee, DDO (Female) Education any senior High School Head Teacher (Male) and any senor High School Head Teacher (Female) would be member of committee.
These committees are directed to ensure compliance to check list White wash and cleanliness (premises toilets roof tops etc) of schools. Grass cutting from lawns and grounds, provision and functioning of missing facilities, functioning of IT/computer labs. Functioning and provision of equipment in science labs, repairing of worn-out furniture, holding school council meetings and maintaining the minutes of meetings, Preparation of school development plan from the NSB, utilization of NSB funds, identification of dangerous buildings and ensure security measures in all schools as per SOPs already circulated DCOs and ACs are requested to visit personally, at least 2 schools every week and hold committee meeting once in a week Minutes of the same are to be sent to.
