CM to open ITU’s new campus

The Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif will perform the groundbreaking ceremony of Information Technology University (ITU)’s news campus on Sunday. It will be State of the Art purpose built main Campus of Pakistan’s first focused research University being constructed at Lahore. In order to construct State of the Art purpose built main Campus, ITU signed an agreement with Infrastructure Development Authority Punjab (IDAP) on June 12 this year.
The ground breaking ceremony is being held on the first convocation for the graduation of its first batch of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science students who were enrolled in the Undergraduate Bachelors programme. ITU has planned to increase the present number of 900 students to 1500 by next three years with the completion of the main campus.
IDAP in the phase –I will construct state of the art purpose built campus of ITU on 182 acres on Burki Road near Lahore airport at estimated cost of Rupees five billions in a period of 12 to 18 months.
