State Minister for Commerce and Textile Muhammad Akram Ansari has said that climate change, water shortage and irregular spell of rains have been damaging the agriculture sector. Crops, vegetables and orchards were faced with numerous new diseases, which are affecting our agriculture. Latest researches and innovations could help overcome problems of the agriculture sector, he added.
The state ministerexpressed these views during a conference on plants health at Bahauddin Zakariya University here on Monday. The state minister said that developing agriculture was inevitable to run the industry. He stressed agrarians to convey modern researches to farmers so that they could improve their crops. The minister said that maximum facilities to farmers were being extended. The incumbent government launched various programmes for welfare of peasants. He quoted examples of subsidy on fertilisers, farm-to-market roads, low tariff on tubewells electricity.—APP
