Climate change

Urooba Sajid

The issue of climate change was once considered as an issue of the distant future but now this is standing firmly in front of us. We certainly can’t deny the fact that nature has started walking on some different path.
The seasons are no more like they used to be earlier; heavy rainfall occurring anytime, earthquakes jolting the earth, extreme heat, droughts and floods causing havoc! Recently, our city Karachi has emerged as the city with the most polluted air which is shocking! People are breathing in poison which is going to affect negatively on their health but one can’t stop breathing! What a pathetic situation and all these are effects of Climate Change.
We need to take some collective\corrective steps in this direction. People need to understand that this is an extreme situation and the world which they are now living in is no safer and in order to make it safe they need to change their habits, their greed and their lifestyle. Though the problem is big, yet there is a solution! Opting for solar and renewable energy may help solve this problem. Pakistan has ample space to generate solar energy. Deforestation must be halted at all costs and people living close to jungles should be provided other sources of energy such as gas cylinders etc.
Make them aware of the negative consequences of deforestation. More and more trees need to be planted to make the environment health-friendly. People should leave their obsession of buying new cars and should be encouraged to use more of public transport. They should adopt a sustainable lifestyle, go for organic food and farming. We must strive to save our only planet “Earth” which is our home and shelter. Let’s give a Cleaner and more Greener future to the coming generations!
