Cleanliness of Muharram procession routes ordered

Mayor Rawalpindi Sardar Nasim Khan has directed Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) to clean the routes of Muharram processions. In a statement issued here he said that cleanliness campaign is in progress adding that strict action would be taken against those showing negligence in performing their duties. Meanwhile, all government departments including Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA), Waster and Sanitation Authority (WASA), Health, Rescue 1122, Civil Defence have been directed to ensure arrangements of maintaining security, peace, cleanliness, availability of lights, drinking water, scanning cameras, walk through gates on the routes of Muharram processions and Majalis. Under the security plan, 6000 armed policemen would be deployed to maintain law and order on Ashura.  No one would be allowed to stand on rooftops of commercial and residential buildings situated along the routes of mourning processions and carry weapons, informed police spokesman.—APP
