Peshawar—The Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtukhwa, Pervez Khattak while emphasizing the importance of sanitation for community health said that cleanliness is an integral part of the faith adding that spending on maintenance of sanitation is the best instrument for controlling diseases in the society. He was addressing as chief guest at induction ceremony of specialized vehicles to the fleet of WSSP in Peshawar on Thursday morning.
Addressing the ceremony, Pervez Khattak termed the provision and the sophisticate equipments and specialized vehicle for WSSP as great achievement adding that it had indicated that real change had been occurred in the province.
Lauding the performance of WSSP, the Chief Minister said that sanitation situation has improved up to 75% due to the efforts of the institution but, he said still there was need to improve it 100%.
The CM informed that sanitation was among the high priorities of the provincial government and that is why it had made an obligation of the local government. The Chief Minister elaborated that village councils and Tehsil councils had been directed to spend 20% of their budget for improvement of sanitation to keep villages net and clean.
Taking notice of the poor condition of Kohat Road, he directed for its improvement immediately. The CM said that construction of Kohat By Pass road had been planned to improve traffic flow in the area.
He further said that an overhead bridge would be constructed near Pir Zakori flyover to overcome traffic impediments at the Ring road. The Chief Minister elaborated that steps for beautification of the provincial metropolis were underway while construction of roads at Hayatabad and University Town were in progress.
He announced that next year construction of the roads in the interior city would be handed over to FWO to maintain high standard of work.He informed that tracking system was devised for the vehicle of WSSP to check its mis-use while monitoring of the staff was also started.
