Cleanliness drive to be launched in 6 districts: Aleem

Punjab Government has decided to launch pilot projects of cleanliness drive in 6 cities of province in first phase so that new and comprehensive system with people’s awareness can be introduced. This was disclosed by Senior Minister Punjab Abdul Aleem Khan while presiding over a high level meeting of Local Bodies Department. He directed the authorities to choose Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Rawalpindi and Sialkot to design extensive campaign at union council level to ensure proper collection of waste and establish health environment, there.
He asked that in educational institutions, public places and everywhere there should be organized campaign to create awareness among masses to get maximum participation in this drive. Abdul Aleem Khan said that he himself would also be visiting these cities to review the arrangements of the Local Bodies Department. Senior Minister said that the representatives of local bodies should also be invited to join in this campaign and get 100 per cent results of this exercise.
Abdul Aleem Khan told that after these 6 districts the same campaign would be started in the remaining districts of Punjab and it would be ensured that there is no compromise in provision of civic facilities to every citizen.
In the meeting, Secretary Local Government and other officers gave detailed briefing on the proposed cleanliness drive and said that the work would be started immediately and presentation would be given also.
They told that after completion of preparation this drive would take place very after “ ashoora “ and every officer and official of the department would ensure full participation. They also briefed other steps of the department taken to make this campaign a success.
