Islamabad—Chief Justice of Pakistan Anwar Zaheer Jamali took suo motu notice on Wednesday over the alleged conversion of Al Markaz Islami building into a cinema in Karachi.
A three-judge bench headed by Justice Jamali ordered the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and the Sindh government to submit a reply over an application filed by Amir Jamat-e-Islami Karachi Naeemur Rehman.
“In August 2015, Karachi Commissioner Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui while taking notice over news reports had shut down the cinema, however, it soon reopened,” the applicant stated.
Earlier, the CJP took suo motu notice on the illegal appointments, promotions and adjustments in the Sindh health department without publishing any advertisement or holding any interview.
The CJP took the initiative after an application was filed by president of the Jacobabad chapter of Pakistan Para Medical Staff Association Akber Ali Khoso.
The appellant contended that the illegal selections were made on the basis of bogus structures in the provincial health department.
