Lahore—Angry locals blocked Sheikhupura Road in protest against alleged kidnapping of a 13-year-old boy from Mian Colony in Ferozewala area of Lahore on Saturday.
According to witnesses, some suspects grabbed the boy and fled in a car. On the other hand, police have claimed that the boy ran away from home after a dispute with his parents.
It may be mentioned here that an Afghan national was caught by locals hiding an unconscious kid in a gunny bag, however, police did not take any action due to lack of evidence against the suspect.
Earlier Saturday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan expressed shock over rampant incidents of kidnapping.
The case of over 600 children missing in Punjab would have raised alarm bells in any humane society. Sadly there seems to be no urgency here, Imran said in a Tweet.
Earlier, in a statement issued on Thursday, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed grave concern over kidnappings of innocent children in Punjab. Additional IG Punjab Nadeem Nawaz submitted a reported in the Supreme Court on Thursday, stating that 6793 children were abducted in different parts of Punjab in the last six years, out of which, 6654 have been recovered till now.
