Churches in Sukkur observed Good Friday with prayers, hymns and recitations from the Bible. A procession of pastors, head priests and children wearing red robes and scarves over white outfits entered the grounds of mission compound, located on Mission Road Sukkur.
The church choir recited hymns remembering that fateful day. Father Yakoob Masih, Church opened the service with recitation of a few important verses from the Bible.
Approximate 1,000 Christians attended the service at Saint Savoir‘s Church. The head priests wished for a safe and prosperous Pakistan in their sermons and said Christians were proud of their Pakistani nationality. The Christians said Christ provided important universal lessons in transcendental love, faith and humanity.
Like others parts of the world, Christian community has observed ‘Good Friday’ throughout the country with religious fervor and enthusiasm here on Friday. In Hyderabad, the main congregations held at St Philips and St Thomas Cathedral.
Talking to APP here, the Bishop of Pakistan Churches of Hyderabad, Kaleem John informed that ‘Good Friday’ was the day when Jesus Christ gave his life for redemption of our sins.
As we remember his sacrifice, one must ponder over how we as a nation have sinned, resulting in a plethora of crises. It is time for Pakistani nation to seek collective forgiveness for sins and seek the Lord’s mercy for the country, he said.
