Children of street schools organize sports and play event

A sport and play event was organised for children from street schools of Capital city Islamabad and under-privileged communities in Jinnah Stadium, Sports Complex. The day was celebrated to mark International Day of Sport for Development and Peace (IDSDP) 2017. “IDSDP is a reminder to use the magical power of sport and play for social change, community development, and to foster peace and understanding in the society. Sport plays an important role in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and is an important tool in tackling inequality in society,” Mr. Iqbal Jatoi, Country Director Right To Play said while addressing the event.
The event was celebrated with children from Mashal Model School, Pehli Kiran School System, Alfirdous Community Model School and Master Ayub Park School, Abdul Razzaq Welfare Trust School. Children played different games and played a Tug of Peace (tug of war is called Tug of Peace at Right To Play) to symbolically relate with the theme of IDSDP “We Play Together” for peace.
Chief Guest of the ceremony was Director Sports Culture and Tourism Capital Development Authority (CDA) Islamabad Mr. Sanaullah Aman. Mr. Sanaullah distributed the trophies among wining children and appreciated their efforts, discipline and team spirit. While addressing the closing ceremony he said “CDA is glad to partner with Right To Play for IDSDP 2017. Now CDA Directorate of Sport Culture and Tourism will initiate such events itself to promote the culture of sports and play in Islamabad”.
Captain National Women Football Team, Hajra Khan, Asmara Keyani, national player football team, Mehru Khan, national player Women Rugby team, Swaiba Sarfaraz and Fazila national Women BasketBall team and players from national women kabbaddi team also joined the celebrations of IDSDP in Jinnah Satidum.
