Child trafficking

Mehraj Altaf

The International Labour Organization (ILO) has reported that about 1.2 million children are being trafficked every year. Nowadays, it has become a serious criminal issue. It is estimated that 980,000 to 1,225,000 children – both boys and girls – have been forced as a result of trafficking. It is also dangerous to the health of the children.
These innocent souls are subjected to these inhuman activities that include bonded labour, camel jockeying, child domestic labour, commercial sexual prostitution, drug couriering, child soldiering and formal and informal industrial sector. Earlier in 2006, the US Department estimated that one million children are exploited in the global sex also. These children are very small to understand the outcome of the treatment meted out to them. It is inhuman to buy children for profit while sellers and traffickers do not think about the parents of the children who have been the victim of abduction and trafficking. I request the government and organizations working for the cause of humanity tp play a proactive role to eliminate this evil from the society.
