Charitable bodies form helping bridge among suffering societies: Al-Sanie

Kuwait—The proceedings of the 4th International Humanitarian Action Forum began in Kuwait in collaboration between the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross. The Forum is being hosted by Mercy International, Kuwait, the International Islamic Relief Organisation, Qatar Charity, Munazamat Daawa Al-Islamiya,IHH Humanitarian Relief Foundation, Turkey, and the International Centre for Research and Studies (MEDAD).
The Forum is being held under the theme: “Partnership: Strength and Sustainability” under the patronage of Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Kuwait, whose speech to the occasion was delivered by Mr.Yaqoub Abdul Mohsen Al-Sanie, Minister of Justice and Minister of Awqafs and Islamic Affairs of Kuwait. He noted that charitable work had become a bridge to link peoples experiencing painful humanitarian conditions. He said that since it was no longer possible today to work in isolation, there was need for effective partnerships among humanitarian institutions to meet the needs of humanitarian duty whenever disaster struck.
For his part, the OIC Assistant Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs, Ambassador Hisham Yousef, in a speech he read on behalf of the constitutive committee of the Forum, thanked the State of Kuwait for the huge humanitarian efforts it has been making over the years. He recalled Kuwait’s hosting of the three donor conferences for Syria, its co-sponsorship of the 4th conference in London.—Email
